Who we are
Soul Food 802 began in our small apartment — number 802.
We didn’t start with a storefront or a business plan. We started in our kitchen with a simple desire: to feed people.
Edgar, originally from Mississippi, grew up on Southern comfort food made with tradition and heart. Michele, from California, brings warmth, creativity, and a deep love for people into every dish. Together, we blend our roots, our flavors, and our experiences into every plate we serve.
We’ve experienced homelessness ourselves, so we understand what it means to need more than just food — to need dignity, welcome, and care.
For us, feeding someone is the first step.
When people are fed, they can breathe.
When they’re fed, they can talk.
When they’re fed, they can begin to heal.
Soul Food 802 isn’t just about meals. It’s about smiles. It’s about connection. It’s about serving the community that once served us.
And it all started in apartment 802.
